Thanks to The Office, we all know the classic stapler in Jell-O trick. But what other, less conventional pranks are out there to add some color to an otherwise average day at the office?

Every company has a story or two about that funny office prank of yore. Here at HubSpot, it’s the “wheat bread leads” story.

Back in 2022, CEO Brian Halligan noticed our marketing team was generating a lot of what he called “white bread leads” (i.e. leads coming in through top-of-funnel offers) and not enough “wheat bread leads” (i.e. MQLs coming in through bottom-of-funnel offers). So in the spring of that year, the marketing team spent the entire month of April dedicated to generating these “wheat bread leads.” And the day the team broke the “wheat bread lead” goal, the marketing team welcomed Halligan in the morning by leaving a real-life infographic on his desk — made entirely of wheat bread.

Needless to say, the team enjoyed a whole lot of wholesome sandwiches that day. While this is on the nerdy side of your classic office prank, we’ve all got our own style.
